DIY : Makeup / Acessories Stand!

What you need:

1) Three or two old plates (depends on how tall or big you want the stand to be)

2) Two vases / tall glasses

3) Hot glue gun or any other super glue

4) Spray paint or your choice (optional)

STEPS:

1) Place the plate with the biggest diameter in front of you and glue down the wider end of the biggest vase on the center of the plate. wait 2 mins for it to dry.

2) Glue the bottom of the biggest vase (which is now facing upward as we have placed the biggest vase up-side-down since it has a narrow base) and place the center of the second plate on it. Let dry for 2 mins.

3) Glue the center of the second plate already stuck and place the smaller vase on it. Let dry for 2 mins and glue down the last (smallest) plate on the vase.

Makeup Storage Ideas, Tips & Tricks!

I love makeup and everything that comes with it. A makeup store is my sanctuary; my happy place. The colors; the faint fragrance of it as I walk into a makeup store gets my pulse racing! Needless to say that being a fashion and beauty blogger, will entail reviewing beauty products from time - to - time as well which means...that's right! More makeup!

I don't think I have even close to what an average professional makeup artist has or close to how much the average beauty vlogger on Youtube has, (I'm in denial) but I do have enough to keep losing some of my stuff; or being unable to find something right when I need it; or to end up buying another piece of the same product because I forget I have one already or that its buried so deep in with the rest of my makeup that it'll take a whole day to dig it out. This leads me to just grab what I can find and go, which is usually a kohl pencil and a lipstick or lip - balm.

Three days ago, I decided that I had had enough when it took me ten minutes to find my concealer. So i decided to organize everything. everything! However, I needed something easy, quick and dirt cheap. I love all the lovely vanity cases for makeup but they are so unreasonably expensive. Plus, that would mean waiting a couple of days more till I could find the time to go get one. So I decided to get creative and think of all the possible makeup storage ideas that would be time efficient and cost efficient.
This was the result: (Less than 700/-)

I now take only a few seconds to find my things! Yay! Also, I'm sure even if you don't have a lot of makeup, you've got to admit, organizing what you have, will definitely save you more time! (more time to sleep in the mornings! Yay!!)

So I thought I'd share a few makeup storage ideas, tips and tricks, with you too!

1) In accordance to how much makeup you have, get a box/ tray/ container that you can put your makeup in. This will confine all your makeup to one place which means, just in case things get out of hand and you "fall off the wagon" with organization, you won't have to look for something in the whole house. There'll be only one place you need look for it!

- We went with two big, transparent boxes (300/-):

2) Now get all your organization done in this box:

Things you could use

A) Tea cups to hold your brushes.

B) Old watch boxes to hold your eye-shadow quads and duos. You could spray paint these but we liked ours this way.

C) Ferrero Rocher chocolate boxes! don't throw them away, they look pretty chic to store makeup;

AND you could use the lids as trays. The possibilities are endless!

D) Use delivery boxes or gift boxes to sort out face and hair products.

E) the cover of a pair of sunglasses or even a shoe box it great to hold your lipsticks in!

F) Make a stand from glass plates and vases to store your nail paints!

G) Use a shoe box to make an organizer to put all the product that don't fit in the main box.

H) Having trouble keeping your perfumes organized? Put them all on a mirror tray for a pretty storage space!

Hope these tips help you too!

Monsoon make-up minihaul...

Monsoon means sticky make up issues. I guess its always less is more when it comes to make up during the rains.
I am therefore switching from foundation to a BB cream, from gloss to matte and to add color to my cheeks a dash of orange/coral instead of the usual pink

Get That Sexy RED Pout!

     Just follow these steps!

     1) Know your Formulas: Creamy formulas are hydrating but may not last long. Matte can be long-lasting but may dry your lips out. However, longwearing formulas are more comfortable than they used to be so go ahead and try what you’re comfortable with.

2) Clean it up: Exfoliate any dry skin gently, by lightly rubbing your lips with a lip scrub or a damp washcloth.

3) Primer:A primer gives a good base for a lipstick and helps it stay longer. You could even apply just a dab of your every-day lip balm to keep it moisturized.

4) Intensify:Lining your lips neutralizes their natural tone so the lipstick will be more opaque and closer to what the pigment is in the tube.

5) The Brush Helps: Take the extra time to apply it with a brush in the morning or before a night out to make it last longer since the brush helps the pigment apply better over any cracks or crevices.

6) Divide and Conquer: Don’t put on lipstick in just two big swipes. Doing so leads to uneven application and may bleed out leaving a hot mess. Instead apply on both top and bottom lips in two swipes each. On your top lip, start from the middle of your pout and pull outwards to one corner, do the same on the other side. Then on your bottom lip start from one corner and swipe till the middle and then from the other corner to the middle.

7) Blot the Right Way: Blot in between applications by gently pressing a tissue to your lips. Don’t press down on the tissue with the tissue in between your lips because that will wear off the lipstick unevenly.

8) No lipstick on Your Teeth: Put your index finger in your mouth and gently close your lips around it then pull it out. This takes off any lipstick from the inside of your lips so it won’t end up on your teeth.

9) Top With Gloss: The shine will help make your lips look even plumper. If you don’t like the sticky feeling, just use a small dab in the middle of your bottom lip.

10) Highlight it: Dab a little highlighter on your cupid’s bow (the ‘U’ area of your upper lip) the light reflecting particles will help draw attention to this part of your lips and define it.

Yes! There is a red for EVERYONE:
To find the best hue for you, follow this:
-Fair skin looks best with a cool tone red or in other words a blue-red hue (Ruby Woo by MAC)
-Olive skin is flattered by a warm tone red or in other words an orange-red. (Rubis Rouge by Chambor)
-Dark skin looks best with a burgundy red.
For Nude Shades:
The most flattering lipstick is one shade deeper than your skin tone:
-Olive-skinned or dark-skinned ladies should try a hue with a hint of sandy beige.
-Those with fair skin should go with a hint of pink.

Singing in the rain with Make-up on..!

I know you have read this one last year, around the same time. But let's refresh any how!

Rain brings humidity, humidity causes sweat, sweat causes pores to open. So here's a list of products or types of products that are best for the rains:

  1. A primer or a serum with some SPF. Try the Youth Code from L'oreal or Kiehl's Clearly Corrective.
  2. A light water based sun blocking moisturize. Just coz you can't see the sun doesn't mean it ain't there!
  3. A mineral foundation - preferably loose powder (like the one from L'oreal True Match) or airy mousse (like Photo Ready from Revlon)
  4. Water proof mascara. Currently loving the Mayebelline Falsies.
  5. If you love lining your eyes. Try a waterproof eyeliner. I personally LOVE L'oreal Telescopic
  6. Lip and cheek tint - Love the one from Benefit. The one from Body Shop is a close second
Keep hair fuss free and keep a scrunchie handy. But please don't put it around your wrist, place it neatly in your bag.

Now that I have mentioned so much waterproof make up. I should tell you that it is a night mare to get off. Don't fret. It comes off EASY with Baby Oil, Almond Oil or Olive Oil. Plus these are great for your skin too.

So have fun and sing in the rain!

XOXO

Fall/Winter Look 2012 - Winter Wine!

Fall/Winter Look 2012 - Winter Wine!

This is a look that almost always comes back as a popular look for the fall/winter season and also happens to be one that I like and this season more and more women are getting with this dramatic look. Celebrities have been seen wearing this look on the red carpet sporting the berry and wine lipstick hues and they have been paired with either the smokey eye or the winged liner. What's great is that this look is surprisingly easy to achieve by just keeping a few things in mind:

1st - Pick your Berry: what's the best that suits your skin tone?
Tip: Fair Skin Tone: Choose something that's dark but sheer like the L'Oreal Colour Riche Lipstick, Blushing Berry (1)
Medium Skin Tones: Opt for richer, truer berry like Revlon Berry Rich and Wine With Everything (2 &4) Dark Skin Tone: Choose a deep color that won't blend in with the skin tone like M.A.C. Amorous (3) or M.A.C. Diva
If you have thin lips dark lipstick can make your lips look even thinner but don't worry! Apply a sheer stain of the berry color and use a lipliner/lip pencil to fill it out very lightly.

2nd- Fresh Face: The key to wearing the Berry lipstick well is to keep the rest of the face fresh and glowing with a clean look because deep lipstick shades clash a lot with heavy blush and bronzer  Apply a Bronzer from the top of your ear to the bottom of your lips and a light blush to the apples of your cheeks.
3rd - Don't shy on the eye makeup. Lots of celebrities have sported the berry lips with everything from smokey eye (Jessica Alba and Jennifer Lopez) to the winged eyeliner ( Emma Watson and Michelle Trachtenberg)
Lipsticks worth a try:
1) L'Oreal Colour Riche Lipstick, Blushing Berry
2) M.A.C. - Amorous
3) Revlon - Berry Rich
4) Revlon - Wine With Everything

Go ahead and try these on for yourself!

An instant 'pick me up'

The thing that can instantly lift my mood and my spirits, besides the punch of a good espresso, is MAKE-UP. A new lipstick's kiss is better than what Sleeping Beauty had from that Prince Charming, I tell ya! The smell and the touch of a new lipstick would have snapped her right back from her la-la land. Who needs true love's kiss when you have MAC, Chanel, YSL making such delicious lippies! LOL.

OK coming back what to what lifted my spirits from the dreaded viral flu that I caught. I bought myself a lovely coral lipstick from Maybelline(Color Sensational 840 Coral Lustre) and an even better aqua nail color from the same brand. All under 500 rupees! Go on...be jealous!

Why am I telling you this. Coz honest to God, I thought I was throwing away the 500 when I bought the two products under the influence of heavy, very heavy medication. Don't they say at the back of these meds - "Do not buy make-up after consumption" or is that "Do not operate heavy machinery". Well what does it matter! To me both are equally hazardous.

Again coming back to the point that I have been trying to make through four paragraphs is that GO AND GET THESE. They are so amazing for the price and so IN TREND. The products are:

The lipstick is glossy, smooths dry lips, color lasts. I would say this is the best for someone who is in between a lip gloss and a lipstick. Its not very pigmented but looks luscious. Very wearable orange.
The nail paint is matte which I LOVE. It needs two coats and by the time you're painting your last nail, the first one dries. I love that even more. The color is great for transitioning from summer to monsoons to autumn to winter. Hell, I would wear all year long!

So Happy Shopping!

Must buy this Weekend...

The fabulous Lakmé Absolute Moonlit Highlighter.

This box of pressed fairy dust delivers one power packed swipe of delicious glow and sun kissed skin. It's pigmented, light, smooth, non-flaky and just right for both day and night. Did i mention that this is a steal for Rs 600/-?!!

Want to know what a highlighter does? Simple- It's the "radiance" secret that celebrity make up artists swear by.

You a newbie? Here's how to use it..
Always always always use a highlighter while facing a light source not away from it.
Swipe a little bit on the spots that catch the light..nose, apple of your cheeks, chin, forehead, under your brows
Do not go overboard. Less is more when it comes to a highlighter.

Happy shopping..!

Schwarzkopf Bonacure Amino Cell Rebuild Moisture Kick Spray conditioner

Who would have thought that a lazy girl's prayers for a quick conditioner would be answered by Schwarzkopf! When you're in a hurry to get to work and your hair is so unruly and frizzy that all you can do is tie it up, at the cost of looking like a matron!

Or if you have fine, limp hair that tries hard to fight gravity. Then my darlings this Conditioner Spray is your answer!

You heard that right! It's a spray, yup with a nozzle, yup with conditioner, yup it's watery consistency, yup you heard it right missy!

How was my hair before? My hair was dry, damaged, dull and dead. I had been tying my hair up for some time now since my hair would become super frizzy and unmanageable just after it dried(even post conditioning)

How did I use this product? I washed my hair and skipped the conditioner(call me crazy!), towel dried my hair and sprayed a generous amount of this amino cell rebuild spray. Combed out the knots and let it air dry. I was so relieved after about 2-3 hours when my fiancé said that my hair looked exceptionally smooth and shiny! Then I did the unthinkable! I ran my fingers through my hair. Usually my hand would get stuck or I'd break a nail or two, but this time! I could run it all the way through! Wooohooo!! And have been able to do it since then!

My job is not to tell you guys what this product contains, or what particular ingredient does what! That's what google is there for! I am here to tell you that THIS STUFF WORKS! Its excellent for all hair types and for everyone who wants their hair looking nice and bouncy! Honestly I would rather use this than Moroccan Oil(which is considered best in class)! I have used MO for over 2-3 yrs and now I think I can break up with it since it wasn't delivering what I wanted. I want quick & easy, light weight, no hassle/mess, easy use, anti frizz, anti dryness, anti dullness! And now I know that it's called Schwarzkopf Bonacure Amino Cell Rebuild Spray Conditioner! Wait, did I tell you that it's just Rs540/- and lasts up to 4 months?

Homemade Glow Pack for Eid!

Here's wishing all you stunning ITnistas a very happy Eid. May you get all that your heart desires! My little Eid gift to you guys is this Homemade Radiance and Glow Pack. Ultra simple and super easy!

What it does: It instantly brightens your face and make it glow. A very good base for the dewy makeup trend.

You need:
1. 20 ml milk (full cream)
2. Half a lime
3. Cotton

Process:
Squeeze a few drops lime juice in to the milk, such that the milk curdles and lumps up. Using the cotton dab this on your face ensuring that you apply both the sticky lumps and rest of the liquid too. Let it stay on your face for 10 mins and wash off with water. Do not apply soap after. So I suggest you wash your face first and then apply this pack.

And now you can GLOW AWAY this Eid!!!!

XOXO

Acne, Pimple, Redness Solution - Tried and Tested

I think I have hit jackpot as far as acne, pimple and redness solution goes. After going through a bad phase(face) of pimples recently, I have concluded that a certain range of products work very well. You will see changes in 3-4 days..yes I said DAYS! I have my empty bottles to prove that it works and also that this is the 3rd time I have bought these. I even went ahead and recommended these products to a friend, and honest to God, I saw changes in 3 days and in a week, her pimples have receded.

So what are these products and how to use them:

1. The Body Shop Tea Tree Skin Clearing Facial Wash: Use this whenever you wash you face, which I am assuming is at least twice, morning and evening.

2. Cetaphil Cleansing Lotion: Use at the end of your day to remove make up, dirt and grime from you skin. Follow up by washing your face with the Body Shop Tea Tree Facial wash.

3. Vichy Normaderm Triple Action Anti Acne Hydrating Lotion: This lotion will mattify your skin as well as hydrate and moisturize it. You can use it day and night. However, it doesn't have SPF. So my advice would be to use it in the evening. and THIS STUFF works! It is also the 2011 Allure Best of Beauty Award Winner.

These three together will change your skin for the better and I say that after using it for over 3 months and getting results. If you look at my skin you will never think that I had a crazy bout of acne and pimples.

Hope this helps you too!

XOXO

Make up Trend - Peacock colors!

An extremely easy look that can brighten any outfit, to work or for an evening out..!

Step1:
Start by moisturizing your face with your fav moisturizer mixed with a bb cream or foundation..or even just the moisturizer will do. Let it seep into your skin.
Step 2:
Use the Lakme eyeshadow quartet in Peacock(how apt!). You can either use one color or first apply the green and then blend in some of the blue. Use the gold as a highlight. The brown is to blend the colors into the crease for a smoky effect but i'd suggest keeping it simple by using just two colors at one time, as too much color will look very runway, and not wearable.
Step 3:
Line your water line with the Chambor blue eyeliner pencil. You can also use this as an eyeliner.
Step 4:
My fav step..! Mascara..!! Apply Colossal mascara to both your upper and lower lashes carefully. This will open up your eyes and make you look doe eyed.
Step 5:
Contour your cheeks with Loreal True Match blush in Cinnamon. Suck in your cheeks and apply along the cheek bones towards your temples.
Step 6:
Keep your lip color muted by using a lip balm like the Maybelline Lip Smooth.

Voila..! You have the latest look of the Season straight from the runway..!

Keep looking hot ITnistas..!

Must Haves from Lush that save big bucks in the Salon..!!

Hello ITnistas,

I thought it's about time that we walk in to Lush Store in the Inorbit Mall and not get confused or distracted by the rainbow colored soaps and the almost, almost breath taking (or suffocating for some) smell! I had my time too when I would just buy the soaps and not know the power of Vegan Lush Products and how they would transform me and my beauty salon bills! I no longer require monthly clean ups or facials, or de-tanning or brightening packs, or whatever the beautician thinks is wrong with my face.

So here's my list of MUST HAVEs from Lush for the problems you might have:

Hair:

Oily Limp Hair - Your savior is BIG. This shampoo will lift your roots to astronomical heights and keep it there. You will have the volume you always wanted. Honestly, this IS the best build up cleansing, oil removing, volumnizing shampoo in the market. It has coarse pieces of sea salt and a lemon base. Both give you a lot of shine, healthy shine. It of course smells divine! Priced at 1550/- for the tub, it goes for a month and half if used alternate days.

Dry Damaged Hair - If you have dry damaged hair and your beautician has been pestering you to get a Deep Conditioning Treatment that will cost you a bomb and mind you, you need atleast 4 sittings! I suggest you try H'Suan Wen Hua.  This Deep Conditioning product has an array of ingredients which you know will be great for you! It has bananas, avacado, eggs, balsamic vinegar, bay leaf infusion, etc! All of these work on getting rid of dry, fried ends. It has a smell you need to get over. Although it has eggs no eggy smell AT ALL! Wash will room temperature water ONLY!

Hair that needs rescuing from constant damage - Your shampoo is Rehab. This shampoo has an olive oil base that will strengthen you hair and control breakages. It has fresh pineapple juice, peppermint and juniper to stimulate hair growth. This one's for you if you flat iron or color or both your hair often.

Face:

Dull Tanned Face - If you want instant brightening and de-tanning, get Ocean Salt. It will scrub away all the dullness and you need to use it every time you feel you need to de-tan or exfoliate.

Blocked enlarged pores/Black&Whiteheads - If you want to unclog your pores, then your product is Herbalism. It mattifies the skin but doesn't make it dry. It clears up blemishes and decongests your pores. It makes the skin clearer

Fine Lines/Laugh Lines Or Big Pores - If you have fine line or laugh line or need to tone your enlarged pores then the fresh face mask Ayesha is for you. It leaves you feeling refreshed and your skin feeling and looking supple. This is perfect before you have a date, an event or you just wanna look like you had a great night's sleep.

Your skin needs Deep Cleansing  - After a day out in the Big Bad World, every girl deserves to get herself looking like a million bucks again. And that is guaranteed by Brazened Honey. This product contains Ginger which deeps cleanses and refreshes tired skin.

Body:

Fatigue and Only a Bath can beat it out - If you're feeling tired and an instant pick me up, then IT'S RAINING MEN is for you. Oh Gosh! Don't you just love the sound of that already! Smells of honey and leaves you with a sweeeeeeet fresh feeling!!!

Please ask the sales assistant for more assistance! All these products have been tried and tested by me. And these have been bought more than once.

Have a great time at Lush!

Love,
IT Fashionista
