Tights --> Pants

Yes, I know what I'm talking about.
No, I don't mean 'leave-nothing-to-the-imagination' kinda tights can be worn as a pair of pants. Ain't nobody wanna see that!

what I do mean, is that personally I think that coloured/printed/neon/velvet pants are overpriced since they're in fashion right now and I can never make up my mind if I would end up wearing them enough or even long enough till the trend goes on. But since I love colors and love these pants and am obviously not willing enough to burn a hole in my pocket, I've figured out a way to own a pair or even a couple of pairs without shelling out a bomb. That's right! Tights or Churidars in about two sizes bigger than I usually wear can be great with a long top. So it's no surprise that I've gone and bought one in every color and pattern! :P  and I love these hot pink ones!

What I'm wearing: Hot pink churidars: Globus, top: Splash, shoes: D'cobblers (gifted), bag: from a boutique in Pune, India, stole: sister's :) Lipstick: Stay With Me Coral by Maybelline

When the sun comes out to play and you wake up craving mojitos for brunch, you must pull out your nautical side.  That's what I did!

Here Comes the Sun!

Hyderabad is definitely getting hot and I'm bidding goodbye to Winter and making way for the Sun both in my life and my wardrobe because the damn heat is getting to me and I can't pretend anymore that I still love my winter wardrobe from last month! I'm sorry Winter, it was good but it's over now! I'm moving on.

I'm chilling my way into pastels, florals and neons again and loving it! Wore this outfit over to my BFF's house for a movie and took along a packet of microwavable poped-corn and was afraid they might just go off in the car but they didn't. Hey! They could have! Or at least looked like they could have. Anyway, thought that the outfit was perfect for a cup of coffee out with friends too and ended up doing just that once the temperature cooled off a bit. I know, there's a lot of color in this outfit but that's just because I love colors to the point that I remind my mom of a box of crayons. *sigh* Oh well, I am what I am - a pretty rainbow. haha!! :P

Yes I definitely love weekends when plans aren't fixed and the time is never enough. In fact there is never enough time to do all the nothings that you want! To relieve you from that sad thought, here's what I wore:

Top from MaX, pants form Pantaloon shoes- gifted, neon sling and earrings from Westside, bangles and necklace - thrifted. Photo Credit: Jatin Chojar.

Get Shorty...

Last night, I wore a pair of black shorts, really short shorts. I realized how easy it was to make them look slutty. Make sure you wear something that underplays the length of the shorts. Do not wear a tube or spaghetti strap top with them. You need to strike a balance. Here are some ideas of how to wear a simple pair of denim shorts and make them look classy. I, personally, do not encourage fringed, frayed, distressed, torn, cut off, pockets-hanging-out-from-under-the-shorts shorts. I prefer to keep them classy yet sexy.

Sunday evening drinks!

Sunday evenings are not complete without a glass of wine - the much  needed drink to reminisce over the weekend well spent and to count the days to the next pay day. If you're like me then you live from weekend to weekend. And of course, the length of the weekend is inversely proportional to how fast it goes by. Three day weekends seem so much shorter than a two day. I guess, that's because I spend most of my time sleeping in on Day1.

And when Monday arrives, when the alarm rings, I almost, almost stop myself from calling in sick. A friend of mine shared a picture on Facebook about how a person calculates the number of earned leaves they have left every Monday morning. Yup, my source of info is Facebook. Lame. I know.

So, my hubby and I went down to a buzzing watering hole on MG road in Pune, 1000 Oaks. I was impressed with the food, drinks, music and most of all how courteous the staff was. We went there for just one drink and 3 drinks later we were dancing and still there. Loved. Recommend.

What I wore - Vero Moda tunic dress and hairband. Louis Vuitton speedy30 with strap in Monogram Idylle Canvas.A 1000 watt smile.

Shoulder it!

Easiest way to 'sexying' it up this season is these off shoulder tops. Pair them with narrow pants or jeans. Wear them with stilettos or ballet flats. Wear them with long ear-rings or studs. You're good to go what ever you choose.

Weekends are OVER-RATED...!

At least mine are. Don't get me wrong. I get so ecstatic beyond normal human levels of state of ecstasy on Friday evenings and almost berserk when a long weekend is involved, but what DO we do on a weekend? OK I know we don't go to work. But doesn't work fuel our weekend escapades? Or am I the only one who feels a good work week deserves a good weekend. Hey! Don't hurl that shoe at me.

So what does an average Joe do on a weekend? I'll tell u what I do. I laze and laze and laze to shame a sloth to hell until hunger pangs strike at about mid day; and I finally get out of bed. I do not exercise and eat junk. Then call my friends to find out if they're better or worse off than me. I side with the ones who are in a better state so that I can rescue my weekend. That's day time for you. Oh I also squeeze in a movie. Every-freakin-Saturday. Saturday night is meant to get my party shoes out and hit a watering hole. The tighter, smaller watering hole, the higher the popularity. And of course, how much of a good time I had is measured by the pain in my feet the next day. So that's Saturday: Sloth to Socialite.

Sunday: I write to you. And crib about the next week or how I spent my Saturday. I went to the Shisha Jazz Cafe and it did not disappoint. We gazed at the other 'animals' at the watering hole over a cuppa Iranian Tea and a kebab platter. I liked. I will revisit, hopefully, without a stomach full of soda pop and popcorn. So Sunday has just started and let's see what it holds for me.

Here are some snap shots of the day:

The Putty Tat's Christmas

Its the most wonderful time of the year
There'll be parties for hosting
Marshmallows for toasting
And Caroling out in the snow
There'll be scary ghost stories
And tales of the glories of
Christmases long, long ago.
It's the most wonderful time of the year!!

It's Christmas eve and  I was invited over to a dear friend's house to deck up the Christmas tree and indulge in some holiday cheer...and chocolates and champagne, of course. While there, my attention was caught by this fascinating ginger cat that has adopted my friend's house. It seems that 'adopting a house' is a natural tendency for cats and although they are mostly moody and not really social, this one, known as Mau, to my surprise, is the opposite. Not only is it friendly, it absolutely loves striking a pose for the camera! Remind you of someone you know? Haha!!

Nothing brings family and friends together like festivals do and I love how festivals bring out the best in everyone and everything and with Christmas no matter what you believe in or which faith you follow, there is something very comforting and magical in the idea of sipping hot chocolate, all bundled up warm listening to carols with a Christmas tree in the corner and a good book. Maybe that's just me or maybe that's just how I imagine it, fueled by my father's narrating skills as he read me Dicken's Christmas Carol when I was a child and all the Christmas movies I grew up watching. Everything's pretty and sparkly, spending time with friends and family, stories, pictures and memories. Yes it truly is a wonderful time of the year.

What i wore, my mint green pants from Globus (at a steal!); light pink heels- gifted; white formal shirt - Westside; polka dotted silk stole- Lifestyle; long string of pearls and earrings- gifted-Sydney(Australia); black front-open sweater- Promod. On my lips: MAC(Please Me), eyes: Revlon liquid liner.

There Will Be (Ox)Blood

I've been lusting after a pair of Ox Blood/Burgundy pants for a while now and for some reason I didn't want them in just any fabric, oh no! I wanted them in corduroy! I had tried every place I could think of and found a couple I liked too but then to my realization, I'm a bit picky when it came down to picking up just the right one that would look great on me and being that they were a trend and am not sure how long they'll stick around, I wanted them to be insanely affordable (read, super cheap! as far as pants go) obviously it wasn't easy and almost felt at some point that I might be at war with the universe in trying to find them! Just when I was giving up hope, I went window shopping and happened to walk into Max and there they were...between the pastels and the monochromatic printed shirts, under the label - 899/- They were the fit I was looking for, not too burgundy nor too red. Just plain perfect and of course, the rest is history...
If you're out for a pair of affordable deep-rich-colored pants give Max and Lifestlye a try and if you're into pastels then definitely try Globus. You won't be disappointed. I find the pants in Max are more affordable compared to the ones in Globus and Lifestlye (1300/- & 1600/-) but their range of colors are lovely!

What I wore: shades- Rayban, equine top- Mango, corduroy pants- Max, shoes- Steve Madden, sling bag- Accessorize, watch- Fossil, bangles- Westside.

Fall/Winter Look 2012 - Winter Wine!

Fall/Winter Look 2012 - Winter Wine!

This is a look that almost always comes back as a popular look for the fall/winter season and also happens to be one that I like and this season more and more women are getting with this dramatic look. Celebrities have been seen wearing this look on the red carpet sporting the berry and wine lipstick hues and they have been paired with either the smokey eye or the winged liner. What's great is that this look is surprisingly easy to achieve by just keeping a few things in mind:

1st - Pick your Berry: what's the best that suits your skin tone?
Tip: Fair Skin Tone: Choose something that's dark but sheer like the L'Oreal Colour Riche Lipstick, Blushing Berry (1)
Medium Skin Tones: Opt for richer, truer berry like Revlon Berry Rich and Wine With Everything (2 &4) Dark Skin Tone: Choose a deep color that won't blend in with the skin tone like M.A.C. Amorous (3) or M.A.C. Diva
If you have thin lips dark lipstick can make your lips look even thinner but don't worry! Apply a sheer stain of the berry color and use a lipliner/lip pencil to fill it out very lightly.

2nd- Fresh Face: The key to wearing the Berry lipstick well is to keep the rest of the face fresh and glowing with a clean look because deep lipstick shades clash a lot with heavy blush and bronzer  Apply a Bronzer from the top of your ear to the bottom of your lips and a light blush to the apples of your cheeks.
3rd - Don't shy on the eye makeup. Lots of celebrities have sported the berry lips with everything from smokey eye (Jessica Alba and Jennifer Lopez) to the winged eyeliner ( Emma Watson and Michelle Trachtenberg)
Lipsticks worth a try:
1) L'Oreal Colour Riche Lipstick, Blushing Berry
2) M.A.C. - Amorous
3) Revlon - Berry Rich
4) Revlon - Wine With Everything

Go ahead and try these on for yourself!

There is something so soothing about a white tee and denims. It's so "TGIF" that even when I wear this on any other day, it lifts my spirits! Here's an ode to the classic white and denim! L.O.V.E!
