Childhood memories!

Do you still have a piece of your childhood? I sure do! This waistcoat that I got as a 13yr old, is still an integral part of my wardrobe. I have dressed it up and dressed it down. I have worn it to school, college, work, parties, movies and even on dates. Classic pieces eventually define who you are. And I think this waistcoat is definitely one of the defining fashion moments of my life. Here I'm wearing it with some basic pieces-faded denims, tee, ballet flats and a smile.

The jeans are from Lifestyle, tee from Promod, shoes-Steve Madden, bag- Charles&Keith and sunglasses - Aldo

Weekend: Live, Love, Laugh!

Saturday lunch out with my friends which was waaayyyy overdue! We've planned it every weekend and the weekend came and went by without us realizing it because we’re caught so deep in our own lives. And sometimes I swear if it weren't for work or for b-school, I’d have no idea what day of the week it is!

Things can get overwhelming at times and I for one need a weekend once in a while with my friends. J  I’m sure I can’t be the only one who needs a good talk session with a friend; I know you do too every now and then. You need someone to show you the mirror when you need it or to tell you what you need to hear or to give you a fresh perspective on things or just some laughs  and sometimes that’s all you need; things just seem clearer and you get a “bring it on!” attitude.

I guess the feeling is similar to that of a tiny vacation but for your mind only, post which, the week seems bearable. For me, there are a handful of people who help me “keep things real” which, I've come to realize is so important now as an adult. That support system.

With so much going on in life and in the different competitive environments that we now work/ live in has become second nature to us. I know competition is healthy because it's what makes us push boundaries but the negativity that comes with it can bring anyone down. therefore, the reason why it's important to surround yourself with the positive people. They serve as your heart and mind's fuel station. Sometimes it doesn't have to be a close friend, sometimes its just someone who's on the "outside" of things to give you a fresh perspective. I don't know about you but that gives me the "I'm not the only one!" feeling. It makes me realize that it's not that my work or the people I see everyday are not interesting anymore; or that I'm not as good at this as I used to be anymore. It is in fact, time to step back and take a break and I don't mean an exotic holiday (although welcomed) I'm talking about taking a step back to get an objective view or some fresh perspective of things. If that for you means taking a trip somewhere then go for it! But what good is a vacation if you don't get a chance to clear your head and then feel that you don't really want to get back to work, as your holiday is at its end.

So take a 'mental' break. Take that comp-off if not the weekend. Spend it with people you like and who have NOTHING to do with your work; talk about what concerns you have but don't talk about work all the time. Remember, it's your day off not a board room meeting with investors. I promise, things will make more sense and work won't feel like Democles' sword.
On that note, here's how I spent my weekend: at Truffles with my "council" :P

Tights --> Pants

Yes, I know what I'm talking about.
No, I don't mean 'leave-nothing-to-the-imagination' kinda tights can be worn as a pair of pants. Ain't nobody wanna see that!

what I do mean, is that personally I think that coloured/printed/neon/velvet pants are overpriced since they're in fashion right now and I can never make up my mind if I would end up wearing them enough or even long enough till the trend goes on. But since I love colors and love these pants and am obviously not willing enough to burn a hole in my pocket, I've figured out a way to own a pair or even a couple of pairs without shelling out a bomb. That's right! Tights or Churidars in about two sizes bigger than I usually wear can be great with a long top. So it's no surprise that I've gone and bought one in every color and pattern! :P  and I love these hot pink ones!

What I'm wearing: Hot pink churidars: Globus, top: Splash, shoes: D'cobblers (gifted), bag: from a boutique in Pune, India, stole: sister's :) Lipstick: Stay With Me Coral by Maybelline

6 Ways to Wear a Scarf

1) a broad and long scarf/stole (as shown)
2) an imagination :)

Look 1: The Waistcoat

Sep 1: fold the scarf in half. Such that you are holding the mid point of the scarf in one hand and the ends of the scarf in the other.

Step 2: Tie the midpoint to the ends you are holding. Like shown in picture 2.

Step 3: pull apart the sides where you tied the ends and midpoint, like shown.

Step 4: pull your arms through the two loops formed so that the knot comes on your back below your collar. You're done!

Look 2: The Bow

Step 1: Bring both ends of the scarf to the front.

Step 2: Tie in a bow.

Look 3: The Bag

Step 1: Tie width ends together.

Step 2: Put the things you need in the bag and sling over arm.

Look 4: Tie it Up

Tie it to your bag. This adds a fun splash of color to an outfit

Look 5: The Turban

Step 1: Bring the ends together (like the first step of the Bow)

Step 2: With the ends in one hand and the loop in the other. Wrap around your head by placing the middle of the folded scarf at the back of your head and bring both ends to the front. Pull the ends through the loop and tuck in the extra ends into the scarf.

Look 6: The Cover-up
This works best with a long and a broad scarf or a dupatta.

Step 1: fold the scarf/dupatta in half (picture 1) and hold the mid point of that half (picture 2)

Step 2: tie the ends to that mid point (picture 3)

Step 3: put hands through loops to wear.

Here Comes the Sun!

Hyderabad is definitely getting hot and I'm bidding goodbye to Winter and making way for the Sun both in my life and my wardrobe because the damn heat is getting to me and I can't pretend anymore that I still love my winter wardrobe from last month! I'm sorry Winter, it was good but it's over now! I'm moving on.

I'm chilling my way into pastels, florals and neons again and loving it! Wore this outfit over to my BFF's house for a movie and took along a packet of microwavable poped-corn and was afraid they might just go off in the car but they didn't. Hey! They could have! Or at least looked like they could have. Anyway, thought that the outfit was perfect for a cup of coffee out with friends too and ended up doing just that once the temperature cooled off a bit. I know, there's a lot of color in this outfit but that's just because I love colors to the point that I remind my mom of a box of crayons. *sigh* Oh well, I am what I am - a pretty rainbow. haha!! :P

Yes I definitely love weekends when plans aren't fixed and the time is never enough. In fact there is never enough time to do all the nothings that you want! To relieve you from that sad thought, here's what I wore:

Top from MaX, pants form Pantaloon shoes- gifted, neon sling and earrings from Westside, bangles and necklace - thrifted. Photo Credit: Jatin Chojar.

Back to basics!

It's been forever since I teamed a pair of denims with a basic black tee. Although this black tee is not quite basic since it has a sheer lace back.

Sunday evening drinks!

Sunday evenings are not complete without a glass of wine - the much  needed drink to reminisce over the weekend well spent and to count the days to the next pay day. If you're like me then you live from weekend to weekend. And of course, the length of the weekend is inversely proportional to how fast it goes by. Three day weekends seem so much shorter than a two day. I guess, that's because I spend most of my time sleeping in on Day1.

And when Monday arrives, when the alarm rings, I almost, almost stop myself from calling in sick. A friend of mine shared a picture on Facebook about how a person calculates the number of earned leaves they have left every Monday morning. Yup, my source of info is Facebook. Lame. I know.

So, my hubby and I went down to a buzzing watering hole on MG road in Pune, 1000 Oaks. I was impressed with the food, drinks, music and most of all how courteous the staff was. We went there for just one drink and 3 drinks later we were dancing and still there. Loved. Recommend.

What I wore - Vero Moda tunic dress and hairband. Louis Vuitton speedy30 with strap in Monogram Idylle Canvas.A 1000 watt smile.

Easy Breezy..!!

Sometimes I like to feel the wind through my hair and the breeze through my clothes. It's that time of year when the weather is on PMS. It can't decide if it should be hot or cold or windy. So the thing to wear on such days are a satin kaftan top (kimono sleeves top) in a basic beige and pair of black legging and kohlapuri sandals.
My top and leggings are from Splash. Sandals from MG Road Pune. Bag from Aldo. Sunnies from Ralph Lauren.
