All the Rage - Hollywood GLAMGLOW and Braun Rotating Face Cleanser

I'm a woman on the go. I am always going somewhere or coming from somewhere or sleeping. Hey! I got my priorities straight!
So to a girl on the go, a 2.5 hr facial sounds like sucking the fun out of a weekend. This is when I discovered 2 products. I have used them for about 2 weeks now. And every time i use them together, the results are phenomenal.

First product is the Hollywood GLAMGLOW mud mask to foam cleanser. This product has been around for some time now just as a mask. This is the top seller at any Sephora that you walk into. Mostly sold out or on a waiting list. This time the mask was introduced as a cleanser. So the mask is to be used every once a week. The cleanser can be used every day, twice, which is my preference.

What the product does:

  • tightens
  • brightens
  • cleanses
  • enhances radiance
  • reduces fine line

Does the product deliver:
Yes on all counts. I can see a visible difference in 2 weeks

All the above and the way it is packaged with a pump. Easy to use and easy to store in those over cramped bathroom cabinets.

Probably the price. At a cool S$92 for the mask and S$65 for the cleanser, it is pricey

Will I repurchase?
     Hell Yeah!

The other product that I am tripping on is the Braun Facial Exfoliator, which was a steal compared to the Clairsonic at S$140. The Clairsonic is at S$355. These exfoliators are all the rage and after using one i have realised that I strongly agree with all the hype. It is all worth the drama surrounding it.

What the product does:
  • The rotating exfoliating brush buffs the skin
  • removes the dirt, grime and dead cells
  • removes black and white heads. although not 100% but still pretty good
  • leave skin feeling smooth and shiny

Does the product deliver on all counts?
    Yes it does.

  • Does what it promises
  • Can be used with any face wash or cleanser
  • Comes in a cute travel pouch
  • Portable

Not completely waterproof. The brush needs to be removed to be cleaned thoroughly.

Will I recommend?
     Yes. Very much so.

Online Shopping meets Personal Styling – Voonik, the app

Let us begin by saying and establishing that we L.O.V.E Online shopping. We love a good deal and we love the convenience of it. We shop online so much that some of the delivery guys have befriended our neighborhood watchman!
Now that you have an idea how much we love online shopping, we must tell you that we goof up some times with our choices. Some. Times. We know that admitting this, is like murder for a Fashion Blogger but hey, we’re human too! So what’s the solution to these “wrong” choices we make? Also, while we say wrong choices, we don’t mean quality or fit issues by the retailer. We mean whether the garment will suit us or not. We are no pool-A models!
“Will I be able to carry it off?” is the most common question we get from people we style or advice and the answer to this question is finally here – Voonik.

Voonik is your personal stylist on the go. The convenience of someone advising you on your sartorial choices while shopping online and doing both while you’re getting your weekly mani – pedi, can only send your pulse racing! Now how does this work?
First, you have to get the app from your app store. That’s a no – brainer, right?
Once the app is installed, you can use it right away. You can log in with your Facebook or Google or create a login.
The first that pops up is a Personal Stylist quiz. It’s simple and easy but oodles of advantage. You’ll know why we say that.

As a fashion blogger/stylist/adviser, we found this quiz quite holistic. It covered all aspects of a girl’s concern – complexion, height, body shape and personal taste. These are the first few questions a stylist would ask a client.

Thereafter, the app opens up to show you what you may like. And honest-to-God we loved the first garment that popped up for us both. It was “So-Us”! One thing that’s great about Voonik is that, unlike other online retailers, it gives you a choice to Love or Hate/Like or Dislike the merchandise it displays. What you like goes in to your Love List. We love this feature since it creates a platform for other users to see your suggestions from your Love List. So it builds a community.

The rest of the app is smooth as silk. It’s easy to use and navigate. It works just like how an online shopping app must work. The sizing guide is elaborate and easy to understand. It does not confuse you with sizing conversions.

There are two options for Payment – Cash on Delivery and Online Payment

A word of caution when trying any new online shopping app/site – Always use Cash on Delivery on the first couple of orders till you establish trust with the vendor. I suggest the same with Voonik. There is a Pin code checker available to check if they deliver via COD to your area or not. Quite handy!

Besides all the goodness of a smooth app and the lovely clothes, that some other competitive online shopping sites also offer, the USP of Voonik, as per The Sister Act India, is the delicious add-ons – the accessories. Here are some of our favorites that we are dying to get our hands on:

So Happy Shopping Fashionistas!

Product Review - Mascara, The Best among the Best

They say the flutter of a woman's lashes can take down cities!

I am sure ITnistas that you have heard, read, followed many, many Mascara reviews in the past. They must have convinced you to go and buy them as well, and most of you did. And then you were stuck with something that didn't deliver what it promised.

And what about those super fake mascara ads??!!! They wear fake lashes and promise you that ONE swipe of the mascara will transform your life forever!!! Whatever, right?!

But fear not, I set out on an adventurous journey in search of the mighty mascara, that did give me a new life beyond eyeliners and kohl pencils. It was my calling that I had to help you out to achieve this life altering event.
Drama continues...

So ladies, here's my list, in the order of least preference...Remember ALL of these mascaras are the best. But I want you to have the best among the best for your purpose and type of lashes:

1. Maybelline Hyper Curl - If you have long but not voluminous lashes. It gives you the best volume and curl. It has a curved wand which reaches the smallest of lashes. You can build on this and go up to 4 coats. This WILL instantly show a difference. Downside - you need a makeup remover to take it off.
2. Bourjois Volume Clubbing - If you have normal length and thin lashes, it gives you great volume but you have to wait for atleast 2-3 coats to see a difference. Although water proof, it doesn't stick like war paint on your lashes. I can take it off with water and my face wash.
3. Colossal Volum Express - If you have thin and short lashes, this one's for you. This mascara has been talked about a lot. It IS one of the best in the market now, but it doesn't give you the lashes you want in 1-2 coats. This is a mascara that you need to build to get the desired effects. You do see a major difference immediately. This mascara has a rounded wand that reaches every lash. Unfortunately, the same causes it to some times come on to your lid. So you have to be careful while using it. It comes off easily.
4. L'oreal Volume Million - If you have short lashes and you only want volume, this one's for you. The bristles are super short. That's what you notice first about it. The wand is bendy so be careful while putting it back in. So what does this one do. I was impressed that it caught my smallest lashes and added volume to it. It defined the tiniest ones in the inner corner of the eye. My lashes looked full, but not too long. This one comes off easily too.
5. L'oreal Double Extension - If you have short sparse lashes, then this one's for you. Easy to use. One Swipe makes a ton of difference. Use the White base first, then the Black top coat. You don't have to wait for the white to dry. If any mascara has delievered the ONE SWIPE challenge, then it's this one. You get your OMG length and your va-va-voom volume. Very easy to take off. It comes off in tubes. The way it works is that it forms tubes around your lashes. It has this lengthening serum too that claims to make your lashes grow, but I haven't put my money on that.

So what is the secret to great lashes? The secret is not using just one mascara, it's using two different types, one on top of the other. My secret is that I use Lo'real Double Extension (1 coat) and then Colossal Volum Express(2 coats) and I get lashes that can take down cities!

Product Review - Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizer

Clinique DDM Review
I have always admired Priyanka Chopra, her radiant dusky skin and her beautiful smile. So when I read an interview of hers in which she said she uses the Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizer, I wanted to give it a try. I was quite in luck when my cousin brought me a whole kit full of Clinique's best sellers. So you can look forward to more reviews on Clinique Products.

As a software engineer, I know how you're always running out of time. We don't get time for our facials or beauty treatment. Well I was lucky enough to come across a product that dramatically delayed the need for a facial treatment. No wonder it's called the Dramatically Different Moisturizer.

A swatch:

Available at Shopper's Stop in GVK One.
  • What it did to my skin: Improved the texture, made it supple instantly, my skin just drank it up.
  • When do I use it: ALL THE TIME NOW..!! Morning and Evening, and even before my workout.
  • After 2 weeks: Hey I didnt have to wait 2 weeks for the result. My skin was radiant after a day, and my face highlighter went back to the drawer
  • Would I recommend it: Yes
  • Is it worth the money: I would say MAYBE since all it does is hydrate and you need a sunscreen after it.
All in all, a good product but pricy!
